MR Cynic is wrong. I, for one, haven't "lived at the bottom of a well for 60 years" (Intervention which is not needed,, November 23).
If I had, I could have adopted a pseudonym like him - Mr Bucket would seem appropriate.
I am not advocating squandering public or private money on the cinema.
I am suggesting that, with flair and public support - and, if last Friday's meeting is anything to go by, there is considerable support - the Regal could be transformed into a thriving concern which would benefit Bengeworth.
Why is Mr Cynic so damning about committees? As long as you have a strong chairman and the committee is not too large, it is no different from the board of directors of a public company.
The Regal is like our hospital - if we allow it to disappear, it is the community that will suffer.
