SHIPSTON: Police Court - Before Mr J Pratt. A Violent man - Damage to the oak at Whatcote. A Tysoe labourer, a big well built man about 6ft 4ins, was charged with wilfully damaging the windows, doors, and articles of furniture at the Royal Oak.
75 years ago, October 10, 1925
LONG MARSTON: Women's Institute - The monthly meeting was held at the school house on Friday. Mrs French, who was introduced by the president, began her handiwork and produced such beautiful flowers that it was difficult to distinguish them from the real flowers. Tea hostesses were Mrs Collins, Brandwick, Bidford and Miss Brown.
50 years ago, October 14, 1950
Stratford. "Our plans are still nebulous, but the shape of things to come can now be discerned," said Councillor E P Ray, chairman of Stratford's Festival of Britain Committee, at the Town Council on Tuesday night. He went on to outline these plans which will make Stratford the second most important centre of activity in England during festival year.

Stratford: A massive demand for lower rate assessments may follow a £23,000 land deal by the district council in one of Stratford's best residential areas. Banbury Road residents are angry because the council plans to build houses to let on 40 acres of farmland.
