Atherstone 4,
Stratford IV 1
STRATFORD'S fourth team travelled to Sutton and played well together in their last league match following a hard first half to the season.
The team is maturing and working well as a team. Despite many fine saves from Michaela Margreaves in the first half, including one excellent attempt where her helmet fell off, the visitors were 1-0 down at half time following a strong Sutton shot which was deflected into the goal.
The hosts scored first in the second half with a short corner that came off the inside of a post.
Stratford scored when Vic Dudley pushed up from central defence to pass a decisive ball for Fliss Hunt to sweep into the goal.
These two players exemplified the effort needed in this difficult league fixture pushing hard for the player of the match title.
Unfortunately, Sutton scored twice more and put the game beyond Stratford's reach. Player of the match was captain Liz Finlyson who worked tirelessly in defence and led by example.
