Ultra Electrics 2, Great Rissington 3
GREAT Rissington enjoyed victory in a keenly fought contest against Ultra Elec-trics at Down Hatherley Lane.
Rissington didn't start too well and found themselves a goal behind after ten minutes.
The match seemed to be swinging their opponents' way when Rissington lost veteran goalkeeper Kevin Bartlett after just 15 minutes with a pulled muscle, possibly caused by him racing from the changing room to the pitch just before kick off!
Substitute Rob Griffiths, normally a midfielder, took over between the sticks.
Left back Tim Adams ended a swift passing movement by powering a 12-yard shot past the visiting goalkeeper.
Rissington kept the pressure on their opponents and were rewarded when a speculative 30-yard volley from midfielder Wayne Barker hit the crossbar and Adrian Habbitts was on hand to net the rebound.
Both teams continued to create chances with some flowing football. Electrics were awarded a penalty 20 minutes from time which was driven past Rissington's stand-in keeper to make the score 2-2.
Within ten minutes, though, Rissington were in front again when Bryan Brain met a corner from Barker and his powerful header from 14 yards left the keeper with no chance and Great Rissington had pocketed all the points.
