Stratford III 2,
Wombourne 0
THE third team started the second half of the season in winning style after a comfortable victory over Wombourne in the DTZ Division Two West.
After a tricky start with Wakeham producing some crucial early saves, Stratford opened up the Wombourne defence with some passing and flowing hockey, resulting in many penalty corners of which was converted by Rob Bowen after some unselfish play by Andy Valender.
Stratford's penalty corner routine proved too strong for the opposition as Ed Rigg cooly slotted home a second for the home side.
Still applying the pressure, Stratford were awarded a penalty flick with Bowen beating the keeper, but not the post.
The second half carried on in the same manner, but Stratford could not convert their chances, but came away with the points and a solid start for the rest of the season.
Everybody played well and Rob Green especially was once again a constant threat to the opposition defence.
