STRATFORD Under-8s rema-ined undefeated after three games against their hosts Bromsgrove on Sunday.
Once again a strong turnout from the Stratford squad meant that there were always plenty of fresh legs to come on as the early frost gave way to a slippery and muddy surface.
The first match started well with the industrious Ben Perrott releasing William Sutcliffe who dived for the line to open the scoring.
The home side responded with two quick scores and the visitors had to regroup. Jamie Walter and the effervescent Bryn Stretton worked the ball upfield where George Greenway supplied the finish to level the scores.
He then combined with Richard Griffiths who weaved through to the Bromsgrove line to give Stratford the lead at half time.
The second half began well with Greenway leaping salmon-like over the line. Moments later, Jack Johnson ignored the appeals of the Bromsgrove players and raced for the line to score a superb solo try.
Max Snelson also went close with a run of his own before Dominic Lorimer finished the scoring to provide Stratford with a 30-10 win.
After a quick turnaround and a new set of players on the field, Stratford continued the good work in the next match with an early score by the hugely impressive Harry Barrett.
Bromsgrove responded but Richard Newton displayed great agility to finish off a good move involving the entire team.
Harry Fishwick was running rings around the defence and provided good opportunities for the likes of Connor Desens to pressurise the Bromsgrove line.
Joe Gravestock was also causing problems for the home side on the wing and he managed an overlap with Simon Horner who scored the first of a brace of tries before half time.
The second half began with a marvellous run by Alex Scott who scythed through the opposition to score.
Ben Mitchell, who was using his size advantage to win valuable ball and break tackles, slipped a pass to Simon Horner who threw his opposite number the sweetest of dummies before nipping in at the corner for his third score of the day.
Despite Bromsgrove scoring a consolation try near the end, Stratford had the last word as Barrett once again crossed to ensure a 35-15 success.
There was just time for a third game and Stratford rotated all of their players in an attempt to keep them fresh.
They led by a solitary try at half time thanks to another Greenway effort, but Broms-grove hit back with a try early in the second half.
It took a workmanlike performance from Costa Fowers and a superb marking job on the home side's impressive winger by man of the match Grant Harmon to ensure that the Stratford line was protected until Barrett broke away to restore the lead.
In the dying seconds, Bromsgrove equalised to make the final score 10-10 and salvage some pride from the encounter.
