Evesham Utd 0, Cambridge City 1
EVESHAM almost responded instantly after falling behind when James Blake fired over from 20 yards from a good position and Simon Fitter then saw his corner headed on to the crossbar by a City defender.
Cambridge keeper Zac Barrett then produced a flying save on the half-hour mark to keep out Danny Scheppel's glancing header from Michael Hayden's free-kick.
Another free-kick caused United problems after 37 minutes when Dave Theobald got on the end of Adrian Canbridge's dead-ball but the central defender headed wide.
Robbie Nightingale earned the first caution five minutes before the break for kicking the ball away.
The home side came close to levelling in stoppage-time when Steve Luckett's near post header from Hayden's corner bounced agonisingly wide of a post.
