Corby Town 0, Evesham United 0
EVESHAM extended their unbeaten sequence in the Southern League Premier Division to seven matches to prevent their hosts from moving to the top of the table.
The Robins rode their luck as Town hit the crossbar three times while Ollie Burgess wasted a great chance after four minutes when Nathan Vaughan produced a fine stop after an error by Steve Luckett.
Joe Clarke's earlier mistake saw Burgess's cross kept out by a combination of woodwork and Vaughan.
Troy Wood had Evesham's best first half chances when he saw his 20th minute drive from ten yards blocked by a defender.
The on loan striker delayed his shot when clean through nine minutes later and allowed Rikki Bains to get in a timely tackle.
Dean Brennan's free-kick skimmed the crossbar, while top scorer Stephen Diggin could only find the side-netting after rounding Vaughan.
The United stopper made the first of the second half when he diverted Diggin's flick past a post while Brennan's header 20 minutes from time struck the top of Vaughan's crossbar.
Debutant James Blake was then perfectly positioned on the line to clear a shot from Marc Warren to safety after the flag-kick had fallen kindly for the home skipper.
Substitute Allando Davis shot across the six-yard area after 73 minutes with Mark Owen unmarked in front of goal and Steve Luckett saw his 84th minute header from a corner saved by Mark Osborn.
Corby looked to have valid claims for a penalty in stoppage-time when Lee Hildreth was sent tumbling by Danny Hodnett but the referee turned down furious Town appeals before cautioning the home player - presumably for diving.
