POLICE have arrested a man in a Worcestershire town after stopping a car with a large amount of cash and fake cigarettes.
Officers stopped a car in 'the Port Street area of Evesham' and found £40,000 in counterfeit tobacco and cigarettes.
The incident happened on Thursday (November 28).
A man was later arrested 'for money laundering' and is now being investigated.
A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: "Town Centre Team officers in partnership with Trading Standards, continued with their work to tackle the illegal supply of counterfeit goods in Evesham yesterday.
"Officers stopped a vehicle in the Port Street area of Evesham where approximately £40k of counterfeit tobacco and cigarettes were located, along with a quantity of cash.
"A male was arrested for money laundering and is now subject of an ongoing investigation."
