THE headteacher of an Evesham school says he is “incredibly proud” following a positive Ofsted report.
St Egwin’s CE Middle School was rated as ‘good’ by inspectors across all four grading areas - quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, and leadership and management.
Ofsted no longer gives schools an overall rating.
The report said the school’s motto ‘love, respect and endeavour’ “permeates everything that happens here”, adding: “This inclusive school has high ambitions for every pupil, including disadvantaged pupils and those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).”
Inspectors said the school has a “well-structure and ambitious curriculum” and described pupils as “welcoming, friendly and polite”.

They said “respectful relationships between staff and pupils are commonplace and that “the school is a calm and purposeful learning environment”.
The report said a small number of pupils find it challenging to meet high behaviour expectations and are suspended more often than their peers, missing valuable learning time.
Ofsted said the school should ensure these pupils are supported and helped to catch up on missed learning.
Headteacher Andy Collard said: “I am incredibly proud of this school community.
“Since my arrival less than 18 months ago the staff have worked tirelessly to deliver the vision of the school, and I want to pay special tribute to them for such a strong report.
“The work of the governing body has been instrumental in helping us with our journey and I am immensely grateful for the vital role that they have played.”
Mr Collard said the report “repeatedly refers to the strong bonds within the school community” and added: “I want to personally thank our superb parents/carers and pupils for their commitment to our values and vision.
“The success of the report is also based on the strong bond that exists with our feeder first schools and Prince Henry’s.
“We all share a common aim of providing the best education in the widest sense for all our pupils and the report evidences the strength of our school pyramid.
“Whilst I am immensely proud of the report, this is not a destination. As an ambitious school we always seek to develop and improve.
“Whilst this report acknowledges the strength of our work, there is still so much more that we want to achieve.”
