A MAN has been arrested after his car was found to have false plates.
The 19-year-old man, who was driving an Alfa Romeo, was arrested in Upper Moor near Pershore following an operation carried out by Malvern's Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT).
According to Malvern SNT, a rise in vehicle thefts in South Worcestershire prompted the operation.
The force said thefts of Alfa Romeos were a focus of the operation too.
Malvern Police said: "There are a number of similar operations taking place over the next few months.
"We will not tolerate this type of crime which often ends with someone losing their pride and joy and possibly their only mode of transport.
"The vehicles are either broken down for parts or sold on to unsuspecting victims who are unaware that they are buying a stolen vehicle."
The man is currently in custody whilst police continue their investigation.
