A DRIVER had a miracle escape when her car flipped on its side during a crash which left her trapped inside before she was freed by firefighters.
The crash, which involved one car, happened on the A44 at Egdon, near Worcester at around 9.20am on Friday, near the scene of a fatal crash earlier in the year.
Two Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews from Worcester Fire Station were called at 9.21am to a 'road traffic collision' in Egdon near the Berkeley Arms close to the junction with the B4084.
A spokesperson for Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said: "The incident involved one car on its side with one person trapped.
"A female casualty in her 20s was extricated using small tool by fire service personnel and handed over to the care of the ambulance service, who attended along with police.
"The A44 was closed for the recovery of the vehicle. The incident was marked as pending closure at 10.03am."
The crash scene was coned off and police cars on blue lights maintained the road closure.
The A44 was reopened at around 10.20am, allowing a large backlog of traffic to clear from the Evesham direction.
Before the road reopened, traffic coming from Worcester had been diverted onto the B4084 Egdon Lane.
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: “We were called at around 9.10am today to reports of a single vehicle collision on the Egdon Lane in Worcestershire. Officers attended, and a woman was left in the care of the ambulance service.”

A spokesperson for the West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to reports of a one car RTC at the junction of the A44 and B4048 at 9.11am.
"We sent an ambulance and a paramedic officer to the scene where, on arrival crews found a woman, who was the driver of the vehicle, who they assessed for injuries not thought to be serious and conveyed to Worcestershire Royal Hospital."

The crash between Peopleton and the Berkeley Arms pub happened at about 12.25am on Sunday, January 14 and involved a silver Vauxhall Corsa and a Black Audi A3.
The drivers of both vehicles were pronounced dead at the scene. Two passengers in the Audi A3 were taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital and treated for minor injuries.
