PLANS for more than a hundred homes to be built in a Worcestershire village have been revealed.

Pershore could get up to 115 new homes after Lioncourt Homes unveiled plans to build on the land north of Rebecca Road.

The scheme proposes up to 40% of the properties being classed as affordable homes and a further 40% of the site being left as a public open space.

The developer still needs to submit a planning application but instead aims to work with residents to refine its proposal before submitting it.

Many residents in the area have received letters through the post to ask for their say on the proposal, and a website has been created to inform people further.

A spokesperson for LionCourt said: "In making the planning application, it is our submission that the proposal represents a high quality, sustainable development which will provide significant planning benefits and will assist, at this important time, in the supply of new homes to support housing delivery in the District.

"The proposed development will positively contribute to the supply of, and ongoing need for, housing within Wychavon and South Worcestershire, which constitutes a significant material planning benefit in favour of the proposals.

"Pershore is a sustainable location for the proposed scale of development.

"This is a suitable site, well related to the town, within easy reach of local shops and services, as well as public transport."

The site currently comprises arable agricultural land and is generally bounded by existing hedgerows with some trees.

Lioncourt Homes plans to have the development as an extension to the adjacent Allesborough Farm housing development on the B4084.

Access to the new development would be off Rebecca Road, with a new junction formed and pedestrian footpath connections made to link the site to the highway network.

The scheme proposes a broad mix of housing types and sizes.

It is expected to include detached, semi-detached, and terraced properties, varying in size from one-bedroom to over four-bedroom homes.

Residents have been encouraged to email consultation@lioncourthomes.com with their thoughts on the plans as soon as possible.
