A WHITE van driver managed to get their vehicle stuck in a flooded ford in countryside road near Worcester despite clear warning signs telling motorists of the dangers.

The Citroen van remains stuck in flooded Shell Ford off Earls Common Road near Himbleton, north of Worcester after heavy rain caused the waters of the brook to swell.

A woman at the scene said drivers were 'always getting stuck in the ford' but many did not venture in when the water was so high.

The gauge showed the waters were around 3ft deep on Thursday afternoon but the waters had receded.

She said the water had gone down since the driver first got stuck and the flood water had been over the van's headlights.

Warning signs which say ford and 'road liable to flooding' positioned at both sides of the ford.

The ford itself is by Shell Ford Picnic Place which lies next to the Shell Brook 'which often floods after heavy rainfall' according to a sign nearby.

A yellow weather warning for rain was declared by the Met Office on Wednesday. Flood warnings remained in place on Wednesday, including at the River Teme in Stanford Bridge and a flood alert for the River Severn in Worcestershire.
