The NHS Trust has urged the public to learn CPR.

On Restart a Heart Day, which fell on Wednesday (October 16), Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust encouraged people to learn cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to help save lives.

The Trust offered free 15-minute CPR training sessions to those already visiting hospital sites on the day.

The sessions focused on emergency situations where someone suddenly collapses and stops breathing.

Ally Middleton, head of education and clinical development at the trust, said: "We want to encourage as many people as possible to learn CPR and gain the knowledge to act fast when someone’s life is at risk.

"Knowing what to do in those critical moments can make all the difference."

The British Heart Foundation has said that more than 30,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occur each year in the UK, with fewer than one in ten people surviving.
