FOUR people have been rescued from a car after it attempted to drive through a flooded ford.

The driver of the car had attempted to drive through the flood water at Walcott Lane before getting stuck yesterday (October 13) afternoon. 

The four occupants of the car had to be rescued by the fire service who quickly deployed multiple boat crews to the scene. 

A spokesperson for Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called to an incident in Walcott Lane at 1.41pm on October 13.

"Two boat crews - one from Worcester and one from Evesham along with a water first responders crew from Droitwich were sent to the scene. 

"Firefighters rescued four occupants from a car that was stuck in water. 

"The occupants were left in the care of the police."

The police have used this incident to remind the public not to drive through floodwater. 

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "Water safety warning.

"Yesterday (October 13), a vehicle entered the ford at Walcott Lane, Pershore and got trapped in the water with other occupants.

"They attempted to drive through the ford, and the level was quite high after having recent increased levels of rainfall.

"Fire and Rescue attended where all occupants were made safe and managed to get out of the vehicle.

"Can we please alert you to the dangers of flood water and advise that you do not attempt to drive through these levels of water, even if you think it looks ok, please do not attempt it.

"There are water level markers that will give you an indication of the height.

"If you see anything that concerns you please call 101 or 999 in an emergency."

The West Midlands Ambulance Service also attended the scene and has been approached for comment.
