A CAFE owner was aghast to find her business was broken into while staying with her dying mother to Spain.

JellyPickleJam in Vine Mews has had its window smashed in an apparent attempt to steal money.

The owner of the decade-old tea room has said it was a kick in the teeth after finding out about the incident whilst in Spain relocating her dying mother.

The raider was caught on CCTV and JellyPickleJam along with all the other businesses in Vine Mews are hopeful he will be caught.

Lisa Stephansen, owner of JellyPickleJam said: "We were closed for a week during the Evesham MOP Fair, we normally take a holiday but I was in Spain relocating my mum who has terminal cancer.

"I received a call saying my window was open and then it quickly unravelled that we had been broken into.

"The owners of the other shops in Vine Muse initially dealt with it and then we tidied up when we got back.

"I'm really frustrated because we are independent trades and we work really hard for not that much money.

"It looks like he was looking for takings in the till because that was the area that was disrupted but we don't leave any money in the café when we are closed.

"So far nothing is missing but at some point we might go where has that gone."

The incident happened early in the morning on September 30.

Anyone with information is being asked to talk with the police quoting incident number 22/85977/24.

Ms Stephansen continued: "We had the windows re-glazed today and we feel more secure with more CCTV and locks, so we are back to normal.

"It's a kick in the teeth because it is supposed to be a happy time with the last few months with my mom and this has happened.

"We have had lots of support from the community which means a lot, some people on social media seem to think they know who it was, so hopefully the police will catch him.
