A swan which had been attacked by a dog has been treated at a Worcestershire rescue.
Vale Wildlife and Rehabilitation Centre rescued the mute swan which will be released soon despite losing a large amount of blood.
A spokesperson for the wildlife hospital said on Facebook: "Yesterday (October 3), we admitted patient number 7000 of 2024.
"In 2023, we didn't reach patient 7,000 until October 30.
"This mute swan (Cygnus olor) was brought to us from Over Basin after a suspected dog attack.
"Thankfully, there were minimal wounds, although a lot of blood, and after a short course of antibiotics, pain relief and anti-inflammatories, he should be ready for release next week.
"Not all of our dog attack victims are as lucky as this mute swan.
"Please remember to keep your dogs on a lead and under control around other animals, you really could save a life."
