The discussions centred on labour shortages, energy costs, and the importance of supporting domestic food production.

The company raised concerns about rising energy costs and the uncertainty around future government support for the horticulture sector, as well as potential changes to employment practices.

Mr Huddleston emphasised the significance of food production in the area, noting that the Vale of Evesham plays an important role in UK horticulture.

He praised Valefresco for its work in providing jobs and driving economic activity in the region, while also stressing the need for continued government support for growers.

Mr Huddleston said: "Valefresco is a great example of why we need to prioritise domestic food production.

"The horticulture sector has huge potential for growth, but businesses like Valefresco need certainty when it comes to labour availability and support with rising costs.

"I will continue to push for policies that address these concerns and champion the needs of our farmers and growers in Parliament."

Valefresco and other growers in the area are seeking longer-term certainty around access to seasonal labour through schemes such as the Seasonal Agricultural Workers Scheme (SAWS) and are asking for investment in renewable energy to reduce their reliance on traditional energy sources.
