THE University of Worcester has been ranked 15th out of the 19 universities in the region and 99th in the UK in The Times higher education guide.

The University of Worcester was ranked lower than a number of other major universities in the region in The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2025, published today (Friday) but has improved on last year.

Last year University of Worcester ranked as the 15th best university in the Midlands and the 103rd best in the UK.

The rankings are published in a free 96-page supplement online today and in print in the Sunday Times.

The guide is described as 'the conclusive rankings for UK universities' and 'the most comprehensive overview of higher education in the UK'.

It includes profiles on 131 universities, making use of the latest data published in the past two months.

The University of Warwick was ranked first in the West Midlands, followed by Loughborough, Birmingham, Leicester and Nottingham.

In the UK overall, the London School of Economics and Political Science takes the top spot for the first time in the guide's 31-year history of domestic UK university ranking, followed by the University of St Andrews and the University of Oxford.

A spokesperson for the University of Worcester said: "The University of Worcester has built on its strengths in the last year, and we were delighted to have scored well above the national average in many areas of the National Student Survey in July.

"The feedback we received from that survey showed that Worcester is well and truly bouncing back from the pandemic, and students enjoy every element of their time with us, from the support they receive from their tutors to the environments they study in.

"This academic year has started very well with a vibrant welcome festival and outstanding graduation ceremonies.

"Students at the University of Worcester get a high quality well-rounded education which proves to be a true springboard for success.

"Worcester is currently ranked 1st in the UK for Quality Education in the Times Higher Education’s University Impact Rankings and is 1st in the UK for sustained employment and/or further study five years after graduation in the latest Government Longitudinal Education Outcomes Data.

"These two outstanding results together with being one of the most improved institutions in this year’s National Student show that our large cohort of 1st year students have chosen well.

"We’re pleased to see today that the NSS improvement has led to us moving up the tables in the Times and Sunday Times Good University Rankings."

The University of Warwick was jointly shortlisted with the University of Leicester for our overall University of the Year 2025.

Leicester rose seven places to rank in the top 30 UK universities boosted by soaring rates of student satisfaction — up 51 places year-on-year for the broad experience and up 40 places for their feelings about teaching quality.
