A COUPLE desperately looking for their missing rescue dog has been given a boost by celebrities and the community supporting their search.

Michael Anthony and Gaynor Rogers, from Bristol, have been searching for their dachshund-cross, Gracie, since she went missing while they were on holiday.

She was last seen in Pershore on Sunday, September 8.

The couple flew out to Izmir, Turkey on Saturday, September 7, but were alerted that Gracie had run away two days later and caught the first plane home.

Businesses in the town have put up posters to raise awareness while the appeal has been shared on social media by former Wales goalkeeper Neville Southall and Coronation Street actress Kym Marsh.

Mr Anthony said: "We've had some sightings of her in the countryside between Pershore and Drakes Broughton.

"The experts that are helping us find her have said that rescue dogs can be very different to other dogs in how they behave so we're asking people not to call, chase or approach her.

"They think Gracie has found somewhere where she drinks, somewhere where she eats and somewhere she sleeps and she is just travelling between these three spots.

"We're hoping to catch her on these cameras that we've set up and work out where we can find her while she's walking."

Mr Anthony has shown his gratitude to the people of Pershore for their help: "There are missing posters all over the high street and businesses have been so helpful.

"The people here have been so supportive and it's so refreshing.

He is now staying in the town for the next few weeks while the search continues, but can't be joined by his partner: "Gaynor has had to go back to work and she's absolutely devastated she can't be here."

Gracie is a small black and grey dog with long hair and an underbite who spent part of her life living on the street in Bosnia before being brought to the UK.

She should not be approached or called for under any circumstances and any sightings can be reported to Mr Anthony on 07804 927504 or 07533 538754.
