A BOMB squad were called after fire fighters discovered a grenade while attending a house fire.
An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team arrived at a property on Yessell Lane in Charlton, near Evesham, on Monday (September 16) after fire crews found a grenade.
West Mercia Police officers arrived at the property at 1.40pm following the discovery and set up a cordon.
The fire was extinguished by two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus using two hosereel jets and one main jet.
The EOD team confirmed the grenade was not live and West Mercia Police said no arrests were made.
Five crews from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) attended the fire which was centred on the bedroom of an end-of-terrace property in Yessell Lane.
The fire was extinguished by two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus using two hosereel jets and one main jet.
A spokesperson for HWFRS said: "All persons were accounted for and utilities were isolated by the home owner.
"Surrounding properties were evacuated and they were checked for any fire spread."
The fire service said that one male casualty was treated by West Midlands Ambulance Service.
