A DAY centre for adults with learning disabilities has started a consultation with Badsey residents over plans to add a community hub and residential respite house to the village.
The founder of Freedom Day Centre in South Littleton has announced her vision to have "Freedom House" in Badsey, a residential and respite house.
Alongside the house, the organisation wants to add a community hub which would include a community café run by its members.
Freedom Day Centre held a consultation evening with residents of Badsey on September 11 to discuss what residents would like to see in the new facility.
Tracey Hemming, founder of Freedom Day Centre, said: "More people came than I thought would to be honest.
"It was a bit last minute but lots of people came, it was all positive and there were some really good ideas.
"I'm sure some people will have concerns but we are also posting lots of leaflets which can be sent back to me or handed in at the butchers.
"Freedom House will hopefully have four bedrooms and needs to be in the centre of Badsey but not on the main road.
"The house and the hub will be two separate buildings and the café will be run by Freedom Day Centre.
"We want to know what residents would like to see from the hub and that is why we are consulting."
Freedom Day Centre recently underwent a nearly £100,000 renovation earlier this year, just two years after being faced with closure.
Ms Hemming continued: "Badsey has nothing, there is a community club but it's too far down the village and so nobody goes.
"The village is crying out for a dedicated community hub, the village hall is always busy, we just need the backing.
"There is so much positivity at the centre and it brings joy to so many.
"Many people say they miss us in Badsey, especially walking past and saying hello during music time.
"We are very determined to make this vision a reality, I know it's not going to happen overnight but you never know."
The hub would include a community café and host a variety of events for the public such as quiz evenings, bingo nights and seasonal activities.
It would also be an open space for a youth club and baby group.
