A Dalmatian crossbreed is seeking a new home after making "remarkable" progress at a special rehabilitation unit.

Six-year-old Odie was taken to Dogs Trust Evesham's Special Rehabilitation Unit (SRU) in September 2023 after his owner became too unwell to care for him.

The charity said Odie had "significant anxieties towards unknown scenarios," and was returned to the charity after nearly two years in a home.

However, he has "thrived" since being transferred to the SRU, and is now waiting for his "forever home."

The team at the charity has said it is "proud of the progress Odie has made" and is hopeful that he will soon find a special home in a quiet, rural location with a family willing to dedicate the time and patience he needs.

Chris Slight, centre manager at the charity, said: "The dedication of the SRU staff and their tailored approach to each dog’s needs highlight Dogs Trust’s commitment to ensuring every dog has the opportunity to succeed.

"We are incredibly proud of the progress these dogs have made.

"It’s a long journey for some, but seeing them flourish and prepare for their forever homes makes every effort worthwhile.

"Odie has come on leaps and bounds thanks to the SRU, and will make a wonderful addition to the family who end up adopting him."

The SRU at the charity is a sanctuary for dogs requiring extra care, offering larger kennels with outdoor enclosures to give the dogs more freedom and access to outdoor space directly from their kennels.

This calm environment helps the dogs feel secure and supported as they work through their behavioural challenges.

Dedicated staff follow tailored training plans, often taking months to help each dog achieve the best outcome.

The ultimate goal is to equip them with the skills and confidence they need to find a forever home.
