THE owner of a sign-making business in Evesham has been left furious following a "sick and cowardly" attack after one of its own signs was vandalised.

The sign which has been sprayed with red spray paint is owned by Zimprint and points customers in the direction of the business after it recently moved out the town centre.

Zimprint owner Steve Cooper described the vandalism as sick and cowardly.

Mr Cooper said: "I couldn't believe it, we have just moved and the sign helps customers to find us.

"One of the neighbours actually caught the guy on CCTV and at first I thought it might have been some teenagers causing trouble, however it was an adult man who just walked down and sprayed the sign.

"It has only been up for around a month and I'm furious.

"I don't know if it was an upset customer or someone else but he clearly had an axe to grind and didn't have the courage to come and speak with us."

The sign was actually the second one the company had put up after the original was removed because it was too small.

The incident happened at around 9.20pm on August 23 and Mr Cooper said that he would be contacting the police if it happened again.

Mr Cooper said: "I'm not sure why he did what he did, if anyone is unhappy we take care of them so it's difficult to understand.

"We are sign makers so we just took it down and made another but if it happens again I will escalate the situation with to the police.

"I fully expected the sign to be vandalised again but it hasn't so hopefully he has got it out of his system.

"It was a sick and cowardly attack, we've been in Evesham for 14 years and this is the first time this has happened, it's just not on."

The sign which is posted on a neighbour's fence points customers to the business and was sprayed with red paint on both sides.
