A WOMAN has been left in shock after her garden fence went up in flames in a suspected arson attack in Evesham.

The woman, who did not want to be named, said she saw two young men pour petrol into a neighbour's car before it caught fire.

The incident happened at an address in Port Street late on Saturday night (August 31) and left a car and a fence badly damaged.

According to West Midlands Ambulance Service, three people were injured but were discharged at the scene in what emergency services believe to be an arson attack.

The owner of the fence which she believed was not the target said: "It was shocking, we were all still up and about to go to bed when we heard the large smash of a car window.

"I looked outside and saw two young chaps pouring petrol into my neighbour's car.

"I screamed to get away and called the emergency services but by the time they arrived everyone was gone and my fence and the neighbour's car were on fire."

Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service believe the fire was started deliberately and West Mercia Police are now investigating the cause.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said the victims did not wish to receive hospital treatment for their injuries.

A spokesperson from West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called by the fire service to reports of a property fire on Port Street, Evesham, shortly after midnight on Sunday.

"One ambulance attended and assessed two patients.

"Neither wished to receive hospital treatment and were discharged on scene."

Three fire engines were on the scene of the incident, and two firefighters managed to extinguish the fire using two hosereel jets.
