THREE people were reportedly injured after a suspected arson attack at an Evesham home.

A large emergency service presence was on Port Street on Saturday night after a car and fencing was set on fire.

Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service believe the fire was started deliberately and West Mercia Police are now investigating the cause.

The fire started just before midnight on August 31 and people had to be evacuated from the property. 

West Midlands Ambulance Service said the victims did not wish to receive hospital treatment for their injuries. 

A spokesperson from West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called by the fire service to reports of a property fire on Port Street, Worcester, shortly after midnight on Sunday.

"One ambulance attended and assessed two patients.

"Neither wished to receive hospital treatment and were discharged on scene."

Three fire engines were on the scene of the incident, and two firefighters managed to extinguish the fire using two hosereel jets. 

A Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Three crews—one each from Evesham, Pebworth, and Broadway Fire Stations—were called at 11.56pm on August 31 to a house fire with persons reported in Port Street, Evesham.

"The fire involved a car and around 4m of fencing, which were extinguished by two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and using two hosereel jets.

"All persons had evacuated the property and were accounted for.

"The incident was believed to be arson and police attended.

"Three casualties were handed over to the care of the ambulance service.

"The incident was marked as pending closure at 2.58pm."

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police added: "Shortly after midnight on Sunday, September 1, we were called to a report of a car fire on Port Street in Evesham. 

"Enquiries to establish the cause of the fire are ongoing."
