POLICE officers caught an illegal fisher carrying drugs in Evesham.
Members of Evesham's Safer Neighbourhood Team arrived at Workman Gardens at around 9pm on Wednesday (August 28) where they found a man illegally fishing in the River Avon from the banks.
After searching the man, a small amount of drugs was found.
He was also found to be wanted for failing to attend court back in February 2024.
The man was arrested and had his fishing equipment seized.
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "Although this was an isolated incident, Evesham SNT will continue to monitor the fishing in and around Abbey Park and Workman Gardens.
"If you see someone who is illegally fishing, please call the police on 101.
"Alternatively, report it to the Environment Agency."
