A musical drama telling the story of a Worcestershire legend's relationship with his beloved wife will be performed in Bretforton.
The drama, titled 'The Enigma of Edward Elgar', throws light on the composer's relationship with his wife Alice and the friends who inspired the 'Enigma Variations'.
Following Alice's death, Elgar reflects on the origins of this masterpiece, one which may have never seen the light of day had it not been for her encouragement and inspiration.
The performance questions the true identity of Elgar.
Actor and writer Michael Lunts will perform a special piano transcription of the Variations live, created by Elgar himself.
This is Lunts' first portrayal of a British composer, with whom he said he has long been fascinated by.
'The Enigma of Edward Elgar' will be performed at the Theatrebarn on Saturday, September 7, at 7pm.
Tickets are available for £15 from www.eveshamfestivalofwords.ort/Programme.
