THERE were celebrations and smiles at colleges in and around Evesham as students received their A-Level results. 

Hundreds of thousands of teenagers across the UK have received their A-Level results today (August 15) with grades nationally returning to pre-pandemic levels. 

Teachers from schools across the region have praised students for "their resilience and commitment" and have shared their pride.

Headteacher of The De Montfort School Ruth Allen said: "Despite the challenges that life has thrown their way, our students have proven themselves to be resilient and committed to their studies.

"Our students will always be more than a grade and today is a celebration of their dedication and hard work.

"A huge well done to all our students.

"We are very proud of what you have achieved."

Staff at Pershore High School were delighted with the results with 97% of students at the school receiving passing grades.

Lewis Cowell from Evesham who studied a Level 1 Plumbing Diploma at Evesham New College said: "I've really enjoyed the course and have enjoyed working in the practical sessions.

"I'm going to return in September for Level 2 and long-term I plan to work in the industry.

“I'd like to get a job working for a company with other experienced plumbers as I think working with others and learning from them is a really important part of developing my skills."

At Prince Henry's Sixth Form, 144 students successfully completed their A-Levels or equivalent Level 3 courses, 17 of which achieved two or more A grades.

Headteacher at Prince Henry's School, Dr Tony Evans, said: "Congratulations to all our students on their achievements this week. 

"Our Year 13 students have been a lovely year group, and this was very evident to Ofsted when they visited us last March just before the students sat their examinations. 

"They are all exceptional, inspiring, and talented young people and we couldn’t be prouder of them. 

"We wish them all the very best as they begin the next stage of their lives.”

Head of Sixth Form at Prince Henry's, Mrs Webb, said: "I am delighted that the students have been rewarded for all their hard work during their time in sixth form. 

"They are a remarkable group of students who have made a huge contribution to the life of the school. 

"It has been a pleasure working with them over the last two years and I wish them every success in the next stage of their lives."
