SNAKES can be found slithering in long grass and hedgerows across the UK - but have you ever wondered where they are most commonly found?
There are only three types of snakes native to the UK - an adder, grass snake and a smooth snake - all of which have been seen in Worcestershire in the past year.
Worcestershire is also home to having the only sighting of the aesculapian snake reported as seen in the UK.
But, what are the Worcestershire places where you'll find the most snakes?
According to Record Pool - a site which gathers sightings of different reptiles and amphibians - there have been seven different spots where snakes have been reported.
These spots include Oddingley, near Droitwich Spa, where the aesculapian snake—a nonvenomous snake classed as one of the longest European snakes—has been sighted.
Five sightings of the smooth snake in Cooksey Green near Bromsgrove and an adder on the outskirts of Kidderminster have also been reported.
An unknown species of snake was found in Astley Cross near Stourport, and grass snakes were found in Strensham and Willersey in Broadway.
