A BUTCHERS in a village near Evesham which was planning to close in less than a week has decided to remain open for "a couple more weeks" after outpouring of community support.
Phil's Craft Butchery in Blackminster business park announced on Facebook that it would be closing for good unless a "miracle" happened, and within 24hrs it had gone "viral" having been shared online so much that the business has "struggled to keep up".
The independent butchers that provides free-range meat to Evesham and the surrounding villages has been open for just under a year and said that it would be closing within a week if business did not pick up.
Phil Wood, owner of Phil's Craft Butchery, said: "Today (August 2) there has been loads of people, I was planning on closing the shop at the end of the week but I've now decided to see how the next couple of weeks go.
"We are coming up to a year now and I opened the shop because I stupidly thought I would earn more and wouldn't have to work for someone else, but what I've discovered in the last 24hrs is that a lot of people didn't even know about the business.
Since his original post, Mr Wood has posted again stating that his phone hasn't stopped and that he is going to try his best to stay open.
Mr Wood continued: "It's great that we are getting out there, all of my reviews are five stars and all my customers love the business, we just need a few more.
"Since the post, I've had a lot more people, it's been a constant stream and I'm struggling to keep up with the hustle and bustle but it's what we needed.
"I put the post up to inform my customers about what might happen, but to be honest I had made up my mind, but I'm going to carry on for a bit longer and see how it goes."
During the interview with the Evesham Journal, a new customer popped in to see what the business had to offer saying that it was important to support local businesses.
The butchers is currently open Wednesday to Saturday.
