A POLICE officer used pedal power to catch a serial shoplifter in Evesham.
The incident happened on July 30 when the officer was on a bicycle patrol through the town when he heard a call from a store.
The shoplifter was trying to steal from the store and made off when the officer arrived.
The officer was able to catch up to him and swiftly arrested the suspect for shoplifting and five other theft offences.
A spokesperson for The Evesham Safer Neighbourhood Team at West Mercia Police, said: "On Tuesday July 30 PC Trowman was on his bike carrying out patrols when he heard a call from a store in Evesham where a prolific shoplifter was trying to steal and made off.
"PC Trowman was able to quickly locate male and arrest him for that and 5 other theft offences."
