THE DEPUTY mayor of Evesham has visited Worcester and noticed the "magnificent" penguins.
John Clatworthy visited the penguins, part of The Waddle of Worcester' on his visit to the cathedral to see the opening ceremony of the Celebration of the Three Choirs.
Mr Clatworty said: "The Penguins are magnificent, an innovation brought about by St Richard's Hospice personnel.
"I noticed big crowds around the penguin outside the Worcester Guildhall, children were queuing to have their pictures taken and so were the parents."
There are 40 penguins placed around Worcester with the aim of raising as much money as possible for St Richard's Hospice.
Mr Clatworthy also works at the St Richard's Hospice charity shop in Evesham and said: "I joined St Richard’s approximately 13/14 years ago volunteering at the Pershore shop.
"It was an opportunity to carry out voluntary work within the community.
"The longer I continued, the more satisfying it became.
"One of the most difficult situations to identify with, is when donations come in with the donor saying that their relative had passed away after incredible palliative care - both to the individual and the family, and want their items to be sold for the benefit of the Hospice.
"I enjoy working for St Richard’s and hopefully will be able to continue - so long as they want me."
