A VETERINARY surgery in Evesham will be closing its doors after 25 years in town to move to a new purpose-built facility only a few miles away.
Martin and Carr Vets, which has surgeries in both Evesham and Pershore will be closing its Evesham site in August in favour of moving to The Valley Evesham.
The vets will close in Evesham on August 16 after 25 years on Lime Street and hope to open a "brand new purpose-built facility" at The Valley in early September, however Evesham customers will be "more than welcome" to visit the Pershore site during the move.
Amy Baldwin, clinical director at Martin and Carr Vets, said: "We are closing our branch in Evesham on August 16 after 25 years on Lime Street.
"We will be relocating to a brand new purpose-built facility at The Valley which is currently set to open in early September.
"Everyone is really excited, it's going to be a total upgrade.
"We will have two consult rooms, separate dog and cat wards, a dedicated theatre and an on-site laboratory."
Whilst the veterinary team does understand that the move will make it difficult for people to walk to, Dr Baldwin said it would be worthwhile.
Dr Baldwin continued: "I think The Valley is a brilliant location, it's dog friendly and fits in with what we are all about, it also has ample free parking.
"So far, the vast majority of customers have responded very positively and have said that they are looking forward to the new premises.
"We do appreciate that for some local customers, they will no longer be able to walk to us, and it will take longer to travel, however it will definitely be worthwhile."
The Valley is less than three miles away from Lime Street and should be around a five-minute car journey.
Emily Burton, senior marketing and commercial manager at The Valley, said: "We are thrilled to welcome Martin and Carr Vets to The Valley.
"Our 125-acre country park and dog-friendly centre is a favourite spot for local dog walkers, and we believe that Martin and Carr Vets high-quality pet care and friendly team will be a great addition.
"We look forward to their opening in September."
