ONE OF Evesham's biggest events is set to take over the town and the weather forecast has been a blessing for organisers.
The Battle of Evesham Festival, the biggest event in the Battle of Evesham calendar, is happening this weekend on August 3 and 4, and it is set to be sunny.
The event, which takes over the town every year, is predicted to bring tens of thousands of guests and over 700 re-enactors to Evesham.
Mick Hurst, director for the Battle of Evesham, said: "With less than a week left to go our biggest relief is the weather forecast.
"It looks like it's going to be sunny which will have a massive impact on footfall which is great for the reenactors because they all have an ego and they like to perform in front of huge crowds, and it's also great for the 150+ traders who rely on good footfall to make a profit.
"It's a fantastic event and there is something for everyone.
"We have music and dancers, it's not just about fighting, it's about life in the 13th century.
"There will also be cooking, sewing, forgery and doctors, which I will admit is not for the squeamish, not to mention the dogs and horses.
"It's all about looking at life today and comparing it to 760 years ago which I think everyone finds interesting."
The main events on Saturday will be The Grand Parade which will see over 700 reenactors and 20 knights on horseback travel through the town and the Battle of Evesham re-enactment which will take place at the main arena.
Guests on Sunday will be able to look forward to The Battle of Lewes re-enactment followed by another Battle of Evesham re-enactment.
Mr Hurst continued: "The main events are all absolutely spectacular and are well worth a visit, but stuff will be happening throughout the town over the weekend.
"Along with the 150+ traders, visitors can watch other demonstrations or have a go at archery, and talk about anything to do with life in the 13th century."
The Battle of Evesham brings in around 80,000 people annually to the town.
The festival will be mainly held in Crown Meadow, but activities and attractions will be held across Evesham including at The Almonry, St Lawrence's Church and Market Square.
