A YELLOW heat alert has been issued for the West Midlands.

The warning will be in place from Monday (July 29) at 9am until Wednesday (July 31) at 11pm.

The Met Office is expecting temperatures to reach the high 20s in Worcestershire, which would break the official heatwave threshold for the region.

During the warning period, there is a higher risk among vulnerable people, including the elderly, as well as pets.

The UK Health Security Agency has also stated there is an "increased potential for indoor environments to become very warm."
