EVESHAM Town Council has approved funding for the mayoress's literacy fund.
The council made the unanimous decision on July 8 to approve £800 in funding, which will be split between eight schools.
Swan Lake First School, The Vale of Evesham School, St Mary's Catholic School, St Andrew's Kineton, The De Montfort School, St Egwin's School and Prince Henry's School will all receive £100.
The schools will each choose how to use the money to best meet the needs of their children.
Marion Griffiths, Evesham Town Council councillor, said: "The schools that I have spoken to are delighted to be receiving the unexpected money and I am pleased that the council made the unanimous decision to award the fund.
"I'm thrilled that the council found a way to finance the project and in due course many children will benefit."
