With the Euros at a fever pitch after England's 2-1 semi-final victory over the Netherlands, a study has revealed the top 10 football songs for fans to get stuck into ahead of the big game.

A recent study by Spades.co revealed that David Baddiel, Frank Skinner & the Lightning Seeds' 'Three Lions (Football’s Coming Home)', originally released for the 1996 Euros, has retained its popularity, topping the list of Euro songs for football fans ahead of the final against Spain on Sunday (July 14).

The beloved song was found in 48 per cent of Spotify playlists created by fans for the Euro 2024 final.

Close runners up to were "Freed From Desire" by Gala, Molella, and Phil Jay, and Neil Diamond’s "Sweet Caroline", at 37.3 per cent and 31.6 per cent, respectively.

The former, also released in 1996, is a regular fixture at games, while the latter has been sung countless times in stadiums since its release in 1969.

Other top rankers include tunes such as 'World in Motion' by New Order (29.3 per cent), 'Yes Sir, I Can Boogie' by Baccara (25.2 per cent), and 'Chelsea Dagger' by The Fratellis (22.6 per cent).

The findings also showed that Spotify users added tracks like 'Southgate You're the One (Football's Coming Home Again)' by Atomic Kitten (18.8 per cent) and 'Bitter Sweet Symphony - Remastered 2016' by The Verve (18.3 per cent) to their playlist.

Rounding off the top 10 are 'I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)' by The Proclaimers and 'Come On Eileen' by Dexys Midnight Runners with 17.8 per cent and 17.5 per cent, respectively.

A total of 946 playlists, containing over 50,000 songs, were analysed to produce these findings.

Speaking on the study, a Spades spokesperson, said: "The results of this study were always going to be interesting, and while there were a few songs nailed in to make this top ten, it’s great to see a variety of tunes favourited by both the Scottish and English team fanbases in these tracks that are likely to be heard oh-so frequently over the next few weeks."
