Following her re-election at the General Election, Dame Harriett Baldwin MP has pledged that flood defence action is her "top priority".
The West Worcestershire MP, who will be sworn in next week, has vowed to continue her efforts for two flood defence projects in Severn Stoke and Tenbury Wells.
She has said that she will be looking to hold meetings with the relevant Government ministers as a matter of urgency.
Dame Harriett said: "I was honoured to be re-elected to be Member of Parliament for West Worcestershire and I am pleased to have retained a strong mandate to speak up for local people and the issues they care about.
"Throughout the election campaign, I said that the two flood defence schemes in Tenbury and Severn Stoke are my top priority and I will be looking to hold meetings as soon as possible to identify a way to move both forward."
Alongside her flood defence focus, Dame Harriett has said she will continue to lobby for improvements to the North Cotswold Line and increased the capacity at Pershore’s train station car park.
Reflecting on the wider election results on what was a devastating night for the Conservatives, Dame Harriett said: "With a change in Government, we’ll need a period of reflection and understand what the wider plans are, but I pledge to be a strong local voice for the things that local people care about the most.”
