VOTERS will take to the polls across the country tomorrow (July 4) for a highly anticipated General Election.

This will be the first election for the new Droitwich and Evesham constituency which has predominantly replaced the old Mid- Worcestershire constituency.

Dodderhill as well as Harvington and Norton wards which were previously in Mid Worcestershire have now been transferred to Redditch.

Six candidates are standing for Droitwich and Evesham and we asked them for their final message to voters before polling begins.

Oliver Walker, Liberal Democrats:

"In the 2023 local elections, the Liberal Democrats came second in the popular vote.

"Since then, our local team has built on that support, demonstrating the positive impact an elected Liberal Democrat can have on our community.

"We are the only party that can truly challenge Nigel Huddleston and the Conservatives in this seat.

"With Labour set to have a supermajority government, the choice is clear: Do you want a Conservative opposition distracted by infighting and culture wars, or a united Liberal Democrat opposition holding Labour accountable on social issues and responsible economic management?"

Andrew Flaxman, Social Democratic Party:

“A vote for me is a vote for integrity and honesty and a vote to bring an end to the failed politics that have done so much harm to the country over the last 20 years.

"The SDP offers a genuine alternative rooted in a love of family, community and nationhood – 100,000 social homes a year, public ownership of utilities, lower immigration, respect for our institutions and protection of our countryside.”

Sam Bastow, Reform UK:

"Not only has this been my very first General Election campaign, it has been thoroughly enjoyable as well.

"I'm a firm believer in voting for what and who you believe in, so please do not fall for the calls to 'vote tactically' put out by a certain party.

"In my opinion, there will never be a better opportunity to vote for change and if you do me the honour of voting for me and Reform UK, I can't think of anything I would rather do than represent you over the course of the next Parliament."

Neil Franks, Green Party:

“A vote for Neil is a vote for someone fighting for our communities; to push for our town centres to become thriving community [owned] hubs; buses to get people mobile, more GP surgeries, pushing for investment in better social mobility, dedicated cycling paths to get our kids more active in a safe way, real hope for a better future and real action on climate change that makes you better off, huge investment in our NHS, more NHS Dentistry, cleaner rivers and cleaner air.

"Paid for mostly by a Wealth Tax on the richest, where an expert called our plans ‘credible’.”

Nigel Huddleston, Conservative and Unionist Party:

"It has been an honour to serve as your local MP for the last nine years.

"Throughout this time, I have always endeavoured to be an active, visible and accessible politician, supporting local business, charities, schools and events.

"As someone who lives in the constituency, I share your concerns about the identity and preservation of our rural areas and small towns.

"And if Keir Starmer becomes Prime Minister, your values and priorities will need a voice.

"No matter who is in power in Westminster, I will always champion this constituency.

"I am therefore asking for your support in this election."

Chipiliro Kalebe-Nyamongo, Labour Party:

"I have been delighted to hear from so many constituents voting Labour on July 4.

"If elected as your MP, I will work tirelessly to represent the interests of every constituent.

"Beginning with restoring public services and putting people at the centre of every decision.

"Droitwich and Evesham constituents cannot afford another five years of the Conservatives - a cost-of-living crisis, NHS waiting lists at record levels, the highest tax burden in 70 years, record levels of children in poverty, sewage in our local rivers.

"Change is desperately needed, and that change can only happen by voting Labour on July 4.
