WORCESTERSHIRE has beaten top holiday destinations such as Rutland and Cornwall to be named as the best place for a staycation in the UK.

The 'good old English countryside' is one of the reasons why people believe the county has been named as the top location in the UK. 

Maggie Hall, owner of Plum Tree Glamping, north of Pershore, said: "Worcestershire is located in the heart of England, which is very accessible and a great place for people to meet up from all parts of the country."

Mrs Hall also highlighted some of Worcestershire's biggest assets including 'history, heritage and beauty' and 'beautiful countryside', as well as the importance of tourism organisations such as Visit Worcestershire.

Bredon-Vale Caravan & Camping is a site on the outskirts of Evesham that welcomes guests all year round.

Jacqui Dance, the campsite's owner, explained why her visitors love to camp in Worcestershire.

She said: "Our guests love visiting Worcestershire for the scenery - that 'good old English countryside' as one camper said.

"They love the hills, the history - everything from the Tolkien references to the Battle of Evesham - and the huge selection of National Trust places to visit. 

"It is easy to get to and from most places in the UK and Europe due to its access from the M5, A46 and M40 and there is so much to do, from Morris dancing festivals to organised walks, farm shops and river activities. 

Mrs Dance continued: "Our guests come from just round the corner in neighbouring Warwickshire and Gloucestershire but also from all over the UK and Europe with our most popular overseas guests being from the Netherlands.
