A REPRESENTATIVE of King Charles has visited Evesham to learn more about the 'incredible' work people are doing in the community.
The High Sheriff of Worcestershire visited Evesham on June 21, with stops at Evesham Adventure Playground, Evesham Volunteer Centre and Wallace House Community Centre to name a few.
Charles Moyle, High Sheriff of Worcestershire, said: "I'm based in the North of the county and I'm acutely aware that the county is split by the motorway.
"My knowledge of the rural areas and the South like Evesham and Pershore is not as strong and so I want to spend more time there.
"So I spoke with the mayor of Evesham and set up a day to see all the good work that people are doing.
"Organisations who do good work and help people with challenges and chaotic lives and see where the community steps in.
"I visited a lot of charities and organisations who are doing amazing work in the town.
"There's a lot of great people doing amazing things."
The High Sheriff visited Evesham Adventure Playground, Wallace House Community Centre, The Evesham Pantry, You Turn, Evesham Volunteer Centre, Caring Hands in the Vale and Garage Art Group as well as many more.
The High Sheriff continued: "I was not surprised at all with what I saw.
"All councils can only do so much with their tight budgets, but what you find is that charitable organisations spring up to fill the gap, it's normally people with experience.
"They are all good decent people.
"I started in March and it has been the greatest privilege of my life to be the High Sheriff and I am thankful to have met so many wonderful people in the community."
The High Sheriff of Worcestershire is the king's representative in the county whose job is to keep law and order.
The post is over 1000 years old.
Robert Raphael, mayor of Evesham, said: "I first met the sheriff in April, he is from Kidderminster and admitted that he didn't know the South very well.
"It was a lovely day out, he is a magistrate and wanted to meet people and organisations who are helping to rehabilitate and improve the life chances of people in Evesham.
"He enjoyed meeting all the wonderful residents and found a special and giving community in Evesham."
