PERSHORE Town Council has received an award which recognises that it goes 'above and beyond' for the community.

The council has had its Quality Gold Award renewed for a second time since it first gained the accolade almost a decade ago in 2015.

Richard Grantham, Pershore Town Council chairman said: "I am thrilled that the town council has been awarded the highest level of award in the Local Council Award Scheme.

"This shows the town council as being forefront of best practice.

"It has taken a lot of work to get to this point, and I think our Clerk, Mrs Charlie MacIntyre for her determination to see this through."

The award recognises excellent communication engagement, management and ensuring practices are following the law.

Charlie MacIntyre, Pershore Town Council clerk said: “I am delighted that Pershore Town Council has achieved the Quality Gold award in the Local Council Award Scheme and am very proud of the staffing team and Council members for all they have done over the last four years to contribute to this reaccreditation.

"The Quality Gold award shows that Pershore Town Council are leaders in the sector and are continually looking to make improvements to fulfil their potential.

"It gives me confidence that I am guiding the Council to deliver to a national professional standard."
