A WORDSMITH who is a regular on Countdown and 8 Out of 10 Cats will be performing in an Evesham theatre.
Susie Dent, who has been appearing on Countdown for over 30 years, will be performing her new show The Secret Lives of Words at the Regal Cinema in Evesham on June 29 at 2pm.
It will be the first time that she steps foot in Evesham for over a decade.
Miss Dent said: "I hope it will be filled with lots of fun surprises.
"I will cover the words I love, word origin stories, American English and why we hate it and why that view is wrong in my opinion, as well as silly videos from Countdown and 8 Out of 10 Cats asking me questions.
"There should be quite a good mixture and I hope people are as passionate as I am.
"I have been to Evesham, but I haven't been in the last decade, I used to go to Pershore when I was little, and I'm looking forward to going back to Evesham."
Despite appearing on television, Miss Dent said that she was in a state of 'betwitterment' - a mixture of excitement and nervousness.
Miss Dent continued: "I don't feel terrified, I feel a lot of adrenaline with having to keep people interested for almost two hours as well as keeping them entertained and learning.
"It's so different to what I am used to.
"My favourite part of the show is the question and answer section at the end.
"I want to hear from as many people as possible, it's really fun and can be unexpected, people often say new things that I may not have thought about."
The television star will also be asking attendees what some of their favourite local words are to compile in her 'regional dictionary'.
Mulligrubs is one word that Miss Dent likes that originates from the area and it means to have a fit of the blues.
Miss Dent said: "My favourite part of Countdown and 8 Out of 10 Cats is playing the game.
"I think people assume that because I have been doing it for so long that it might get boring but it never does.
"Every game is new and challenging, I love the adrenaline rush and I love meeting contestants, plus I get to look into a word origin every day."
Miss Dent is a lexicographer which is something that she had wanted to do from a young age saying "rather than me finding the words, the words found me".
