New wine bar Paul's of Pershore opens in the Royal Arcade

Dan and Paul Boatright-Greene, who have a combined 25 years of teaching experience, are behind Pershore's latest eatery Paul's of Pershore. 

Dan, who is also a district councillor, is a former geography and geology teacher and Paul is a former chemistry and physics teacher who left teaching at Easter.

The wine bar is located in the Royal Arcade on Broad Street. 

Named after one half of the pair, Paul's of Pershore opened on May 3 with Dan surprised at just how many people have returned since. 

Dan Boatright-Greene said: "Paul had always wanted to open his own business and it's in the perfect location. 

"We have always said that we needed a wine bar in Pershore, no one else was doing it so why not us?

"The previous place folded three times in 18 months. 

"We gutted the place and had a soft launch on Friday (May 3)."

"We have had an excellent opening."

Open Wednesday to Sunday, the wine bar serves Mediterranean-style dishes in coffee.

Dan continued: "We have done a lot of travelling in Greece and Italy and we know a lot about the area, so why not take advantage of that. 

"We thought about what goes well with wine and we thought about Mediterranean food.

"The breakfast muffin is amazing and so is the calamari."

The bar will hold regular wine tastings and hopes to host different themed nights around every six weeks. 

He said: "We are holding our first wine tasting next Friday (May 24) and we are hoping to do a themed night every four to six weeks. 

"The first theme is going to be Spanish and I am pushing for Italian after that. 

"We had a gentle first week but last weekend was really busy, despite a small panic when the freezer broke, meaning that we could not serve ice cream.

"What I have found impressive is the amount of people that have been returning."

The bar is situated on two floors and has an outside sitting area and can accommodate 56 customers.
