THIS canalside pub secluded from the main road in a leafy oasis commands a fine view of the narrowboats moored in the wharf, making it an ideal location in summer.
The Eagle and Sun in Salt Way, Hanbury, is known for its 'home cooked' carvery which is served daily at the pub by Hanbury Wharf with a special deal for pensioners which has proved a popular draw.
Close to the main road and Hanbury Wharf and with a large car park, the pub is easy to reach, whether by car, foot, bike or boat. The pub is under 10 miles from Worcester by road, nestled by the wharf off the Worcester and Birmingham Canal, a popular route for walkers and cyclists.
The carvery is served between noon and 3pm and again between 5pm and 8pm, Monday to Saturday and between noon and 7pm on Sundays. Pork, beef and turkey are served with an assortment of 14 different vegetables. Vegetarian and vegan options are also available.
Between Monday and Friday there is a deal for pensioners called 'Pensioners' Perk' which offers customers a carvery with a dessert for £11.95.
They also serve three cask ales at any one time and many pub favourites including Carling, Birra Moretti, Guinness, Pravha and Strongbow Dark Fruit Cider.
The pub has a lot of trade from the canal but was also popular with walkers because of the circular walks in the area.
"People love the food and the view. There's a good view from our restaurant area. The sunset we get here in summer is spectacular," said one barmaid.
There is plenty of outdoor seating and picnic benches close by the pub to maximise the opportunity to enjoy the view from an elevated position, looking down into the wharf.

The pub is also popular because of its closeness to the National Trust's Hanbury Hall (around two miles away) and Avoncroft Museum. Some sources date the pub to the 1830s.
The pub is also something of a showcase for local artists, including Rosie Philpott based in Droitwich who studied at the University of Worcester. She is known for her distinctive paintings such as 'Wonky Droitwich' and 'The Eagle and Sun'. The artwork is also for sale.
Watercolours and acrylics courtesy of John E Dugmore, a self-taught artist from Droitwich, are also displayed.
Phil Powell of Worcester and Dave Wilcoxon of Bewdley enjoyed a rewarding pint after a walk.
Mr Powell said: "The view is lovely and fantastic and the area is just wonderful. The pub was inviting and the barmaid was excellent."
Mr Wilcoxon, a member of CAMRA, said the beer was of 'good quality'.
