A MAIN road in Evesham has been closed after a serious crash involving two cars.

The incident happened at around 12:56pm today (Saturday) at the junction of the A44 and A46 on Badsey Lane in Evesham.

The road is currently closed due to a serious crash, with closures in place at Broadway and Badsey islands.

Motorists have been advised by West Mercia Police to find an alternative route.

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called to a two-car road traffic collision.

"We assisted one person from the vehicle and left the casualty in the care of the ambulance.

"A fire crew was mobilised at 12:56pm and left the scene at 1:41pm.

"One appliance was one the scene of the incident."

West Mercia Police later confirmed at around 3:30pm that the road was now reopen.

"Update - the road is now fully open, thankfully no one was seriously hurt," they said.

"Thank you for your patience."
