YOUTHS had to be "taken home" by police after reports of anti-social behaviour at a former Evesham supermarket.

Several young adults were found inside the former Aldi on Swan Lane after reports of anti-social behaviour.

Officers had taken the youths home, and the building was returned to the owner to ensure it was made safe and secure.

Evesham SNT said it is working hard to tackle anti-social behaviour (ASB) in the town centre and it is an unacceptable activity.

A spokesperson said: "We are working hard to tackle anti-social behaviour (ASB) in Evesham Town Centre.

"Anti-social behaviour covers a wide range of unacceptable activity that causes harm to an individual, to their community or to their environment.

"If you are experiencing problems with anti-social behaviour or have any concerns about it or other community safety issues, you should contact your local council or report this to us online.

"In an emergency, if you or your property are at risk or a crime is in progress, call 999.

"The police, local authorities and other community safety partner agencies, such as Fire and Rescue and social housing landlords, all have a responsibility to deal with anti-social behaviour and to help people who are suffering from it."

The Aldi store in Evesham town centre revealed it would close in 2021 for good.

At the time, a spokesperson for the supermarket said: "We have taken the decision to close our Swan Lane store in Evesham at the end of April 2021.

"As we hope you can appreciate the decision has not been taken lightly, however, the site is no longer suitable for our long term requirements.

"We'd like to assure you that Aldi remains committed to serving the people of Evesham and we hope that current customers continue to shop with us at our new store at Sinclair Retail Park, Evesham."
