A crematorium will open its doors for people to pay tribute to their lost loved ones on Mother's Day.

Visitors can go to The Vale Crematorium's chapel on Saturday, March 9 between 10am and 12pm for reflection and remembrance of their lost mothers.

Attendees will be able to inscribe wooden hearts with personal messages, or light a candle in memory.

The crematorium is a part of the Westerleigh Group, and is one of the UK’s largest independent operators of crematoria and cemeteries, with 40 sites across England, Scotland and Wales.

Manager Catherine Linfield shed light on the motivation behind this Mother’s Day initiative, saying: "We know that occasions like Mother’s Day are when people can particularly feel the loss of a loved one, which is why we always like to offer something to enable people to pay tribute in a special way."

“Something else that visitors to our site can do is post a Mother’s Day card in our Letters To Loved Ones memorial post box, which we know has given people a sense of comfort and a feeling of connection to someone they have lost.

“Regardless of whether they’re newly bereaved or lost their loved one a while ago, or where their funeral took place, our Mother’s Day invitation is open to anyone who is looking for a quiet place of reflection and comfort at this special time of year.”

The tribute is open to anybody to attend, regardless of the time or place of their loved one's passing.

The crematorium offers a comforting space for those newly bereaved or those who have been mourning for some time.

In addition, anyone considering buying a memorial around Mother’s Day can make use of a unique offer, with the crematorium providing free personalisation of memorials up to £500, with hopes of making them even more personal and special to mourners.

The offer is valid between Monday, February 26 to Sunday, March 31.
